Duration : 3 weeks X Delhi Grade : Tough (Climbing Rabbit Ears) Auden's Col an Introduction Col is a mountain pass which connects Jogin I (6465m) and Gangotri III (6580m) peaks and is reportedly situated at a height of around 5400m. It also binds two glaciers on the opposite sides. One is Khatling glacier and the other one looks like the glacier belonging to Jogin I. Auden's Col is approachable from Gangotri and one can trek up to Kedarnath following Auden's Col and Khatling glacier. Auden's Col gets its name from J B Auden, who first crossed it in 1939-40. |
Auden's Col
Auden's Col is a mountain pass situated in the central Garhwal region. It connects
the mountain peaks Jogin I (6465m) and Gangotri III (6580m) and is at a height
of around 5242m. Auden's Col binds two glaciers on either sides - Khatling
glacier on the south and Jogin Bhamak on the north. A little distance lower to
Jogin Bhamak is the Gangotri III glacial system. Auden's Col is approachable
from Gangotri and one can trek up to Kedarnath following Auden's Col and
Khatling glacier. Auden's Col gets its name from
J B Auden, a famous British geologist. He first explored the region in the
year 1939.

Gangotri to Ghuttu via Auden's Col
Day 1 : Arrive Delhi -- Transfer to Hotel.
Day 2 : Delhi to Rishikesh
Day 3 : Rishikesh to Uttarakashi. Visiting Forest office and NIM
center.
Day 4 : Drive to Gangotri. Hotel
Day 5 : Gangotri to Nala Camp
Day 6 : Nala Camp to Rudugaira BC
Day 7 : Rudugaira BC to Col BC
Day 8 : Rudugaira BC - Rest day and acclimatization.
Day 9 : Col BC to Khatling Glacier
Day 10 : Glacier Camp to Waterfall Camp
Day 11 : Waterfall Camp to Chowki
Day 12 : Chowki to Kharsoli
Day 13 : Kharsoli to Gangi
Day 14 : Gangi to Ghuttu
Day 15 : Ghuttu to Haridwar
Day 16 : Haridwar to Delhi
Day 17 : Delhi to Agra.
Day 19 : Agra Sight seeing
Day 20 : Back to Delhi
Day 21 : Fly back Home.
